Choosing Rest in a Productivity Culture
- Aug 7
- 1 min read
In a world that glorifies hustle, rest becomes a form of holy resistance. Productivity culture tells you that your worth is measured by output, efficiency, and constant motion.

"Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Rest says: I am not a machine.
Rest says: I trust God enough to stop.
Jesus Rested - On Purpose
Even Jesus, with crowds pressing in and miracles waiting, withdrew to quiet places. He didn’t apologize for it. He didn’t justify it. He didn’t wait until everything was done.
If the Savior of the world needed rest, surely we do too.
Father, teach me to resist the pressure to perform. Help me honor the limits You lovingly placed within me.
amen.
A Gentle Practice for This Week
A 10‑minute pause with no phone
A slow walk outside
A quiet cup of tea
A short prayer of stillness
