A Divine Appointment at the Grocery Store

I didn’t expect to meet God between the frozen peas and the pancake mix.
It started with a list—just a quick run for essentials. But as I turned the corner near the cereal aisle, I saw her: a woman with weary eyes and a cart full of uncertainty. Something nudged me—gentle, unmistakable. The Spirit whispered, “Slow down. See her.”
So I did.
I offered a smile. She returned it, surprised. We exchanged small talk about oatmeal brands and rising prices, but then she paused. “I just lost my husband,” she said softly, as if testing whether the world could hold her grief.
I didn’t have the perfect words. But I had presence. I had prayer. I had a heart tuned to divine interruption.
We stood there, two strangers wrapped in holy stillness, as the grocery store buzzed around us. I prayed aloud—simple, tender, real. She cried. I cried. And then we parted, carts rolling in opposite directions, hearts somehow lighter.
That moment wasn’t on my calendar. It wasn’t part of my ministry plan. But it was sacred.
Scripture Reflection:
"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it." — Hebrews 13:2 (NIV)
Soul Shift Invitation:
Today, let’s embrace the unexpected. Ministry doesn’t always wear a microphone or happen behind a podium. Sometimes, it shows up in the checkout line, disguised as a conversation, a kindness, a pause.
Ask God to make you interruptible. To tune your spirit to divine appointments. And when they come—because they will—step in with courage, compassion, and the quiet confidence that you are exactly where you’re meant to be.
